Axel Folie Outfit Evolution | Beverly Hills Cop 1-4

In the first part, Axel is wearing a basic zip-up black heather hoodie and has to catch our attention only with his charisma and sense of humor.

Beverly Hills Cop 2 is the first time we see Axel’s iconic jacket, that associated with him for more than 35 years. Axel is wearing a Detroit Lions Bomber Jacket with metal jacket pins, which seems associated with football.

In the third part, Mr. Folie is wearing the same jacket as in the second part, but the metal jacket pins already disappeared somewhere.

Based on the trailer and photos from filming 4th part, in the new movie, Axel will wear his iconic jacket for some time, however not the same one. It’s a modern version of the Detroit Lions jacket, which you cannot find on their official website for some reason. I think they are missing a lot of sales on this. Despite the classy jacket, Axel’s classy shirt appears already in the first part. We can see him wearing a grey long-sleeve shirt with a Mumford print.

After upgrading the jacket, Axel decided that the shirt could remain the same, so we can see no updates here, same Mumford shirt.

I don’t know what happened, maybe Mumford refused to pay for such an advertisement, but in 3 parts of Beverly Hills Cop we can see Axel in the grey long-sleeve shirt but without any prints.

In the trailer, we can see Mr. Folie wearing an orange T-shirt, however, the exact print we can see in the photos from filming 4th part.

Axel Folie is wearing a vintage orange WJLB FM 98 T-shirt. WJLB FM 98 is Detroid’s hip-hop FM station.

To get one, check thrift stores, and marketplaces, or just make it yourself with custom T-shirts.

I found a scene in the first Beverly Hills Cop, where we can see a red label on Axel’s jeans, which tells us he was wearing Levi’s jeans. Acknowledging it was filmed in the 80s, look for classic dark stonewash 501 jeans.

In three years, we can still see Axel wearing jeans with recognizable labels, however now we moved from dark stonewash to light stonewash.

Even tho Axel’s jeans look similar to light Stonewash 501, I did not notice any labels on them. It means that if you need jeans for a costume party, wear any light blue regular jeans, and they will look like the ones in the movie. For example, Lee jeans will look just fine.

Hard to tell what brand Axel is wearing this time, but what we see is that he moved to the original jeans color – dark blue. Once again, for costume pick any jeans with suitable color. For example, Wrangler jeans will look just fine.

In the first part, we can see Axel wearing Adidas Country OG Shoes. To my surprise, you still can buy them new on the Adidas website, and wear the same sneakers your favorite character was wearing in 1984.

This one is a bit tricky, as many confuse these sneakers with Adidas Superstars. However, Axel Folie is wearing Adidas HRLM in Beverly Hills Cop 2, which was released in the 80s, and now was recreated with SNS. Both new and old a pretty hard to get. I found similar-looking Adidas shoes that you easily can get if you need them for a costume party.

In Beverly Hills Cop 3, Axel is wearing classic Adidas Superstars that are still popular nowadays, if you still don’t have them, you can easily get one online.

At this time it’s hard to tell which exact sneakers Axel will be wearing, as from the trailer we don’t get exact info. There is a moment where somebody is pressing on the pedal in Adidas Superstars, however I’m not sure if it was Axel. As well, in the photos from filming, we see Eddie Murphy wearing white Nike shoes. Maybe Nike is only for scenes where shoes are not visible, or they decided to go against traditions and replace Adidas shoes with Nike.

Seems like in 1984 sun was not so shiny in Beverly Hills, so Axel Folie does not appear in sunglasses during the first part.

3 years later, and Axel is already in sunglasses, global warming hits fast. f you need an exact match of this, Axel is wearing Porsche Design Sunglasses.

1994 and the sun doesn’t shine so badly again, so Axel is wearing no sunglasses again.

2024 – The sun hits back again, and Axel needs his sunglasses back too. However, we can see him wearing some new sunglasses, unfortunately, it is hard to tell yet which exact model. If you need it for the costume, feel free to use any aviator-style sunglasses, like the one in the link below.
